What is Aromatherapy?

Remember the smell of Mom's freshly baked apple pie and how it made your mouth water? Have you
ever remembered a loved one just from the scent of man's after-shave or a woman's perfume?  Do
you "perk up" when you smell the aroma of  freshly ground coffee?  One of the most powerful and
influential human senses is our sense of smell.

For thousands of years, man has used fragrances to subtly alter his moods and emotions.  Scents
can make us feel  relaxed, energized, happy, and even sensual.  Airheads has combined pure O2
along with aromatherapy to create our “Dream Machine.”   People worldwide are spending as much
as 3 times the price of a gallon of gasoline to drink the equivalent of pure bottled water.  Why not
breathe enriched Oxygen and receive the benefits of all natural aromatherapy?

Since the time of Cleopatra, people have used aromatic botanical essences
(essential oils) to
enhance the surroundings as well as promote health.  Today we can all experience the abundant
and profound influence of essential oils on our lives. Essential oils when combined with oxygen
stimulate the senses and begin to alter ones mood or condition in positive ways.
Science is just now rediscovering the power of aromatherapy through essential oils, the lifeblood of
the plant kingdom. Health practitioners contend that when essential oils are inhaled with Oxygen the
life force of the body is stimulated to conditions of tranquility, harmony, invigoration and an overall
feeling of being refreshed.  The theory is that aroma signals the part of the brain that control
emotions. Research has shown specific smells produce physical effects within the body. That is why
Airheads uses aroma essences for our clients so they can literally fit the smell to the mood they wish
to achieve.

American researchers Dr. Richard Axel and Linda B. Buck shared the 2004 Nobel Prize in physiology
or medicine for their work on the sense of smell-showing how, for example, a person can smell lilac
in the spring and recall it in the winter.  Their genetic work revealed a family of "receptor" proteins in
the nose that recognize odors, and they illuminated how the odor information is transmitted to the

The Nobel Assembly at the Karolinska Institute said the sense of smell "helps us detect the qualities
we regard as positive.  A good wine or a sun ripe wild strawberry activates a whole array of odor
receptors."  Axel and Buck clarified the intricate biological pathway from the nose to the brain that lets
us perceive and recognize smells. A whiff of an odor brings a mix of different molecules into the nose,
where each molecule activates several odor receptors. This pattern of activation is interpreted by the
brain, letting people recognize and form memories of about 10,000 diverse odors, the Nobel
Assembly said.  The use of Oxygen with aromatherapy is like smelling the roses a hundred fold!  The
combination of oxygen and aroma essence is commonly referred to as "Oxygen enriched air."

Airheads uses essential oils formulas made from 100% natural therapeutic grade oils. They have
been meticulously selected from many regions around the world and handcrafted by master aroma
therapists. They have also been tested for Oxygen inhalation safety.  Essential oils are derived from
non-man made sources such as flowers, leaves, roots and seeds to name a few. The oil of these
natural substances is steam distilled from the source to maintain purity content.  Our aroma
essences are steam distilled and pure concentrates extracted from seeds, flowers, leaves, skin and
roots of the plant kingdom from around the world. One drop of our essential oil is often equal to one
ounce of the plant. Therefore, just 6-10 drops of our essential oils (depending on your personal
preference) will run your business all day long.
